THE FULL STORY
ABOUT
My name is Nicole, and I’m an architectural designer and researcher with a deep focus on extreme environments— where buildings have to do more than stand up; they have to adapt.

I work at the intersection of climate resilience, design psychology, and community care. My path has always pointed toward edge conditions: cold climates, coastal zones, off-grid systems, and spaces of collapse and rebirth.

Over time, I realized I wasn’t just designing buildings—I was designing ways of being in uncertain futures. That’s where Resilience by Design was born.

MISSION
To create and share intelligent, emotionally grounded tools and ideas for designing in high-risk, high-resilience environments— so that architects, planners, and systems-thinkers can build places that protect, uplift, and endure.

Through content, research, and community, I aim to translate complexity into clarity—making architecture not just beautiful, but essential, even in the harshest conditions.
VISION
A world where resilience is not reactive, but designed in— from the ground up.
Where cities, homes, and field stations aren’t just surviving environmental extremes, but evolving with them.

Where design teaches people how to live better— together, through uncertainty— with grace, intelligence, and care.

I envision a global design ecosystem rooted in purpose, performance, and emotional intelligence—and I’m here to help build it.
